Solo Trip is a Mumbai based indie rock project by artist Pratyush Sinha. He makes late night drive music for fans of The 1975, Tame Impala, Steve Lacy, Wallows, and other guitar riff driven pop bands.
Solo Trip is part of the rising pop-rock and alt-rock independent music scene in Mumbai.

The Strangest Feeling

The Strangest Feeling is a lush, layered guitar-pop track with a nod to emo shoegaze and indie-pop. The goal was to capture yearning and nostalgia through heavily reverberated vocals, fuzzed out choruses and an atmospheric production.
This would be scooped right up by anyone who listens to The 1975, Wallows, and Beach House. These artists have had a major impact on how Solo Trip has layered the production on this track. Fun fact - Pratyush had to create two different FL files to work on this as he was maxing out the CPU because of all the vocals, guitars, and synth layers! Sidharth Gupta from Green Park has been wonderful on mix and master.
Pratyush and his friends did a very elaborate DIY music video shoot. He got an old Sony camera from the 'Camera Gully' in South Bombay. Travelled to Pune and booked the Metronome jam room to shoot himself and his friends playing over the track. Set up their own lights, put on some eyeliner and glitter, and created a fabulous music video!

U CAUGHT ME LOOKING AT YOU TOO MANY TIMES is a garage and punk rock track - Pratyush goes back to his roots with this one. Having played the guitar since he was 10, he wanted to make a very raw track along the lines of The White Stripes and The Black Keys, highlighting just guitars, bass and drums.
The lyrics are inspired by this Sunday bottomless karaoke brunch he had at The Little Door in Andheri. It features characters he met there and is about the chaos that ensued while having the best time. He produced and mixed the track, with Sidharth Gupta is on the mastering.
He turned his living room upside down to make it the music video set. He had a very particular idea for it where it'll be vintage footage of him performing his music in a crafty room. He sought his friends to build up and shoot the room as a set. This was his first time 'directing' and 'editing' a (music) video.

The song is about seeing his girlfriend grow up with him and finding her way in life. This is a groove-led indie-pop track riding on a moody bassline and laid back vocals. Back in 2023 listening to Tame Impala and Steve Lacy, he wanted to write a song centered around a bassline.
The demo came together in one day and Sidharth worked on mix and mastering to bring it to life. He wanted to make a music video inspired by Del Water Gap’s vintage style and that’s exactly what he found in the content creator Jay Gurow’s page online, which he and his friend Shrey turned into reality. The video can be seen right below.
Super Locked Doors
2021
Solo Trip had put out his first single called Super Locked Doors. It's an acoustic-pop track he had released during lockdown in Nottingham, UK where he knew for the first time he had to sit down and figure out how to do this music thing, while in college. Got himself the cheapest Behringer sound card, and a Samson mic. Put two and two together and came out with a track he still can go back to. Could use better mixing but hey that’s fine by him - it was only the first track! Now ofc he uses the standard Focusrites and Rodes.

What's next for Solo Trip
With 4 songs out, Solo Trip plans to release his first EP called 'songs for when you wanna look back on life' early next year with 5 tracks - capturing a snapshot of his current self for later reflection. The theme spans from personal to political and is part of the live show with the band!
Mumbai and music
Having been in Mumbai for 3 years now, there’s no other place he can imagine himself being to get into the local music scene. Artists, bands, even journalists and people from the music industry he has looked up to for ages are ones he finds himself collaborating with behind the scene.
Solo Trip music comes from the ideas of a boy who grew up on guitar music, then turned his head towards what pop had to offer. That’s where you’d find him- pop hooks dressed as a rock act. There is love for the grandeur and exclusivity that rock offers coupled with the appeal of pop.
